Starter - Mounting Bracket

REF. NO. 58/37

TO: OUR MERCEDES-BENZ PASSENGER CAR DEALERS

DATE: August 1985

SUBJECT:
BRACKET FOR FASTENING THE STARTER TO AN ENGINE WITH THE TRANSMISSION REMOVED
ENGINES 116/117

For starting an engine with the transmission removed, a bracket (1) to which the starter can be fastened, is available as a special tool (Figure 1).

This makes it easier to locate leaks on the flywheel side of the engine.

If there is a spacer between the starter and transmission, the spacer must be mounted between the bracket and starter.

To start the engine, jump pin sockets 5 and 6 on the starter lock-out switch plug connection (Figure 2).
