1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove air filter housing.

3. Drain coolant from radiator and engine block into container for reuse.

4. Partially remove starter motor and turn to gain access to core plug.

5. Remove core plug from right rear of the engine block using a 19 mm (3/4") Allenhead driver.

6. Install block beater into engine block using a new aluminum seal ring supplied in kit. Torque to 70 N-m (52 lb. ft.) using a 46 mm (1-13/16") wrench or socket.

7. Reinstall engine block drain plug using a new seal ring. Close radiator drain.

8. Attach power cable to block heater and route along suitable supports on the right side so that it ends in front of the radiator. Tie the cable with plastic straps to the supports as required.

CAUTION! Be sure power cable is away from exhaust manifold, otherwise cable may be damaged.

9. After checking coolant for sufficient antifreeze protection, refill cooling system and pressure test for leaks.

10. Reconnect battery ground cable and install air filter.

11. Run engine with defroster on and check for coolant leaks. Check for proper heater operation and coolant level.
