1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove air filter housing, disconnect mounting bracket and move rearward.

3. Drain coolant from radiator and engine block into container for reuse.

4. Remove core plug (arrow, Figure 1) on right side of engine block using a 19 mm (3/4") Allenhead driver.

5. Install block heater into engine block (c, Figure 2) using a new aluminum seal ring supplied in kit. Torque to 70 N-m (52 lb. ft.) using a 46 mm (113/16") wrench or socket.

6. Reinstall engine block drain plug using a new seal ring. Close radiator drain.

7. Attach power cable to block heater, and route along suitable supports on the right side so that it ends in front of the radiator. Tie cable with plastic straps to the supports as required. Guide cable through insulated clamp attached to lower starter motor bracket bolt (a, Figure 2) and to suitable supports using plastic straps (b, Figure 2) as required.

CAUTION! Be sure power cable is away from exhaust manifold, otherwise cable may be damaged.

8. Reconnect air filter housing bracket and install filter housing.

9. After checking coolant for sufficient antifreeze protection, refill cooling system and pressure test for leaks.
10. Reconnect battery ground cable.

11. Run engine with defroster on and check for coolant leaks. Check for proper heater operation and coolant level.
