Center Nozzle Flaps

VACUUM ELEMENT (4OA) FOR CENTER NOZZLE FLAP
REMOVAL:
1. Remove center console.
2. Remove instrument panel.

Supports (70 & 71), Bracket (72):

3. Remove support (70 and 71) as well as angle bracket (72).
4. Pull 2-pole coupler from temperature sensor (6).
5. Pull off vacuum line (arrow) for vacuum element of legroom flaps.
6. Disconnect cable connector terminal 58d.

Air Duct - Center:

7. Pull out the four clamps (arrow) on air duct~enter at front and rear sideways in outward direction.
8. Remove air duct-center in downward direction to the right.

Spring Clamps:

9. Remove clamping springs (arrow) by means of pliers for locking rings from air conditioning cabinet top and scoop.

Vacuum Element (39):

10. Remove clamp (74).
11. Pull off vacuum lines (arrow) on vacuum element (38), as well as connection to vacuum element (40a) and remove top (76).

Vacuum Element (40a) & Lock (67):

12. Pull vacuum line (arrow) from vacuum element (4Oa).
13. Lift off lock (67) by means of a screwdriver.

INSTALLATION:

Vacuum Element (40a) & Lock (67):

1. Fasten vacuum element (40a) on holder or air conditioning cabinet top together with locks (67) and rubber washers.
2. Plug vacuum line (refer to arrow) to vacuum element (4Oa).

Vacuum Element (38):

3. Mount air conditioning housing top (76) and scoop and fasten with clamps (arrow) to air conditioning cabinet.
4. Plug vacuum lines below (arrow) red-white and red-light blue in center on vacuum element (38), also plug vacuum line red-black on vacuum element (4Oa).
5. Mount connecting rod of vacuum element (4Oa) with clamp (74) and check vacuum element (40a) for function and leaks.

Air Duct - Center:

6. Mount air duct-center with four clamps (arrow) on heater box.

Supports (70 & 71), Bracket (72):

7. Install angle bracket (72) and supports (70 and 71).
8. Plug on vacuum line (arrow) red/yellow for vacuum element of legroom flaps.
9. Plug 2-pole coupler to temperature sensor (6).
10. Connect electric lines, terminal 58d, to line connector.

Use Of "Wedge":

11. Install instrument panel,for this purpose keep defroster nozzle flaps closed by means of a wedge.
12. Install center console.
