SUBJECT: SINGLE PROTECTIVE BELLOWS FOR WIRES AND VACUUM LINES BETWEEN "A" PILLAR AND FRONT DOOR MODEL 126
Figure 1 - Oval Protective Bellows with Two Flanges:

Figure 2 - a - Flange b - Protective bellows with flange:

Since August 1984, an oval protective bellows with two flanges (Figures 1 and 2) between the front ("A") pillar and door was gradually phased into production. This replaces the two small, round bellows previously used. The purpose of the change is to make installation of the electrical wires and vacuum lines between pillar and door easier..
NOTE: In the future, a protective bellows will also be installed between the center ("B") pillar and the rear door (small sealing lip installs on "B" pillar, large sealing lip installs on door).
Installation procedure
1. Assemble flanges to the protective bellows.
2. Engage the bent tab on the flange at the lower edge of the "A" pillar cut-out.
3. Snap both claws into the "A" pillar cut-out; check for proper seating.
4. Mount the protective bellows to the door in the same manner.
Figure 3 - Combination Bellows for Different Cut-Outs on "A" Pillar and Door.:

Front doors and "A" pillars are only supplied with the oval cut-out (part number unchanged). If only one body part with the oval cut-out is subsequently installed (e.g. accident repair), a combination bellows is available with both the oval and the dual round openings (Figure 3).
NOTE: In case of complaints about water leaking into the footwell area, check whether the protective bellows is properly seated at the "A" pillar. If required, reinstall the bellows according to the service microfiche instructions and seal it at the "A" pillar with MB universal sealer.
